Analysis: San Jose missed the postseason last season for the first time since 2003 after allowing their most goals per game in nine years. The 34-year-old Martin had spent the past five seasons in Pittsburgh. He is strong in the defensive zone and is a good puck mover. He had three goals and 17 assists in 74 games last season.
