|June 18 2:39 PM PT3:39 PM MT4:39 PM CT5:39 PM ET21:39 GMT5:39 AM 北京时间2:39 PM MST4:39 PM EST1:39 UAE (+1)17:39 ET - The Minnesota Wild have placed Cooke on waivers, for the purpose of granting him his unconditional release. he Wild announced Thursday they will buy out the final season of Cooke's contract, provided his clearance through waivers. He will become an unrestricted free agent eligible to sign with any team except Minnesota. The 36-year-old was set to make $3 million in 2015-16.
Analysis: General manager Chuck Fletcher, in a statement from the team, said the move was a ''difficult decision'' driven by the desire for more flexibility under the salary cap. Cooke missed two-thirds of the regular season, due to a hip injury and later sports hernia surgery. In 111 games with the Wild, he had 14 goals and 24 assists.

Analysis: Cooke did not practice Tuesday, due to what Wild coach Mike Yeo would only describe as ''discomfort.'' Yeo said Cooke is ''definitely a possibility'' to play Thursday, but he added that if the team were to decide Cooke wasn't fully healthy then he wouldn't play in Game 1.
|Feb. 3 12:03 PM PT1:03 PM MT2:03 PM CT3:03 PM ET20:03 GMT4:03 AM 北京时间1:03 PM MST3:03 PM EST0:03 UAE (+1)15:03 ET - Cooke will miss the next six weeks after undergoing surgery to address a sports hernia. The Wild say Cooke had surgery Feb. 6 in St. Louis.
Analysis: It's a tough loss for a team that is trying to scratch its way back into the crowded Western Conference playoff picture. Cooke gives the Wild a physical presence at the forward spot that the team lacks when he is out. Cooke missed 22 games earlier this season with a hip injury. The team believes the sports hernia may have developed as a result of Cooke playing through pain in his hip.
