Analysis: The Thunder only suited up nine players. Most notably they were without reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant, who had surgery for a fractured bone in his right foot this month and will likely be sidelined until December. Westbrook could have a number of high-scoring efforts in his absence.

Analysis: Brooks said Westbrook would be reevaluated Friday. Westbrook missing significant time would obviously be devastating for Oklahoma City with Kevin Durant already out. It remains to be seen how long Westbrook will be sidelined, though.

Chairman Jerry Colangelo says Tuesday that USA Basketball had been communicating with Westbrook since the end of the season and knew his withdrawal was a possibility.
Analysis: Westbrook was a member of the Americans' gold medal-winning teams at the 2010 World Championship and 2012 Olympics. He has had multiple knee operations since, though was able to help the Thunder reach the Western Conference finals. Colangelo says in a statement that the U.S. would love to have Westbrook but that "this is the right decision."
