Analysis: Golden State said Thursday that Thornton was expected to join the Warriors before Friday night's game with the Celtics in Boston. The 27-year-old Thornton averaged 8.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 21.8 minutes in 49 games this season for Washington.

Team President Ernie Grunfeld announced the move Tuesday, saying the recent additions of Rashard Lewis and Mo Evans combined with Josh Howard's return from injury had created a logjam at small forward that made Thornton expendable.
Analysis: Thornton was acquired a year ago from the Los Angeles Clippers. He started 23 games this season and was averaging 8.0 points, but he had been used sparingly over the past month, in part because of a dislocated right middle finger.

Analysis: Thornton is considered day-to-day. He's too inconsistent to be a solid fantasy contributor, averaging 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds.
