Analysis: West can sign with any NBA team while playing for the Legends, just as he could have as a free agent after the Mavericks let him go. The Legends acquired him because they were next in line to pick up players from the D-League player pool when West joined it.

Analysis: West, who has bipolar disorder, indicated in a series of tweets after the second suspension that his future in Dallas was in doubt. He was a valuable role player for the Mavericks last year and figured to play a similar role this year before a pair of locker room incidents during the preseason.

President of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said the ban was lifted after the eight-year veteran met with Nelson and Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle on Tuesday. West was a valuable player off the Dallas bench last season and is expected to fill a similar role in 2012-13.
Analysis: After Monday night's preseason win over Houston, Carlisle told reporters West was suspended without offering any details. West has bipolar disorder. He was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2010-11 season after pleading guilty to weapons charges in Maryland.
