Two people familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Saturday that Harris and the Mavericks have agreed on a new contract. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't announced the deal.
Analysis: The 31-year-old Harris played for Dallas on a one-year, $3 million deal last season, missing the first half of the year after offseason toe surgery. He originally had a three-year contract worth $9 million, but the deal was scuttled by the toe injury.

The 10th-year guard was acquired as the No. 5 pick on draft night in 2004 and spent his first 3 1/2 seasons with Dallas before a trade with New Jersey that brought Jason Kidd back to the Mavericks. Terms of the deal announced Wednesday weren't released.
Analysis: Harris originally agreed to join Dallas nearly a month ago, but the contract was held up by concerns over a toe injury. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 assists per game for Atlanta last season and has career averages of 12.8 points and 4.9 assists. Harris had his best season with the Nets in 2008-09, when he averaged 21.3 points and 6.9 assists and made the All-Star team.
July 9 1:33 PM PT2:33 PM MT3:33 PM CT4:33 PM ET20:33 GMT4:33 1:33 PM MST3:33 PM EST0:33 UAE (+1)22:3316:33 ET3:33 PM CT19:33 - Harris is headed back to the Dallas Mavericks, nine years after starting his career with them as a high draft pick. His contract is reportedly for three years and $9 million.
Analysis: Harris spent his first 3 1/2 seasons in Dallas and played in the 2006 NBA Finals before going to New Jersey in the trade for Jason Kidd in 2008. The Nets sent him to Utah when they acquired Deron Williams in 2011.
