Wade went through a lengthy pregame workout, shooting from long range, pull-ups and foul shots before pronouncing himself fit to go. Wade fell on the wrist a couple of times. He grimaced and held it but remained in the game. The wrist didn't appear to have much impact on his performance as he shot 10 for 15 from the field.

A federal judge in Florida was scheduled to hear arguments Thursday from attorneys for Wade and his former partners in the D. Wade's Place venture. Attempts to settle the $90 million case hit an impasse last year.
Analysis: The investors claim Wade violated federal antitrust laws by failing to honor their contract. The restaurants were supposed to market valuable Wade memorabilia that the investors say the NBA star wrongly monopolizes now. However, Wade's lawyers say antitrust laws don't apply to the case. They say Wade has absolute control over licensing of his name and image.

Analysis: Wade and his lawyers are set to begin talks with former partners suing him over a failed chain of sports memorabilia restaurants and a charter school operation for inner-city kids that opened successfully despite Wade's absence. The lawsuits claim combined maximum damages against Wade in the neighborhood of $150 million. With the NBA season around the corner, it's clear the Heat want to avoid legal distractions for Wade.

"So, with that being said, with my name and likeness being dragged through everything ... there's already a hit on my brand and a hit to my name. That's not good."
Analysis: A deal to open a restaurant chain _ D. Wade's Place _ which Wade and a friend, Marcus Andrews, hoped would go nationwide barely got off the ground. And now those former business associates claim Wade walked away from a binding contract. All this comes as Wade is going through a messy divorce from wife Siohvaughn and an arbitration proceeding over claims that he improperly walked away from a Miami charter school for at-risk kids that was supposed to bear his name.

He said Heat president Pat Riley texted him early Sunday, in what amounts to a largely ceremonial move. The Heat had to wait until 12:01 a.m. on July 12 before they could formally offer an extension to the reigning NBA scoring champion, and Wade said Riley didn't wait too long before pressing the send button expressing interest.
Analysis: Wade didn't reveal what the text message said, other than confirming the obvious, that Riley was reaffirming Miami's hope that the 2006 NBA finals MVP sticks around for many years to come. "Something like that," Wade said.

Analysis: Wade made clear that he would like to stay with the Heat, reiterating something he's said countless times in recent months. That's only if the Heat are contenders. I've told coach Riley this: All my life, all I've ever wanted to do is win and be put in a position where I can win and succeed," Wade said. "Build me a team. Put the pressure on me to win a championship."
