He owns nearly every franchise career record worth having, but the Timberwolves decided to part ways with the only star they have ever had. Garnett received a standing ovation during introductions and was cheered throughout the game.

But he dismissed concerns of an injury, saying he relaxed because he saw his teammates were back to protect against the fast break. "It was just a slide into second base," said Garnett. "The umpire said I was safe."

It's just real fortunate for my opportunity. Tonight was fun."
Analysis: Garnett scored all six points in the first quarter, helping Boston build an early lead. He underwent knee surgery in May and the Celtics lost to Orlando in the second round of the playoffs.

Analysis: When Garnett was able to join his teammates on the practice floor for an informal 5-on-5 game last week, he turned another corner. "No setbacks," he said of his work coming back, adding he was "almost 100 percent and going forward."
