Analysis: Tanaka made his third consecutive opening day start for the Yankees, and had been 6-0 with a 2.82 ERA in eight career starts against Tampa Bay. His next start will come Saturday at Baltimore, and Tanaka allowed five hits and struck out seven in a complete game 1-0 loss to the Orioles last May in his only matchup last season.
Feb. 28 3:37 PM PT4:37 PM MT5:37 PM CT6:37 PM ET18:37 ET23:37 GMT7:37 4:37 PM MST6:37 PM EST7:07 PM VEN3:37 UAE (+1)5:37 PM CT-Tanaka's first pitch of spring training was a wild one, sailing all the way to the backstop. Then, the New York Yankees ace quickly settled in. Tanaka struck out two over two hitless innings during his initial exhibition start Tuesday in the Yankees' split-squad 9-5 win over the Detroit Tigers.
Analysis: Tanaka is scheduled to start on opening day April 2 at Tampa Bay.
