The Detroit Tigers shortstop was examined by a specialist on Tuesday, and is scheduled to be reevaluated in four months. Iglesias will be relegated to non-weight bearing exercises and upper-body conditioning for four to six months.
Analysis: The smooth-fielding Iglesias hit .303 for Boston and Detroit last season. The Tigers acquired him last July from the Red Sox in a three-team trade shortly before shortstop Jhonny Peralta was suspended. Detroit didn't re-sign Peralta and he signed with St. Louis as a free agent. Detroit might sign free agent Stephen Drew to replace the 24-year-old Iglesias if the championship-contending franchise isn't comfortable starting someone such as Danny Worth at the important position.

Analysis: Iglesias has been experiencing pain in both of his shins when he runs, particularly when he slows down. General manager Dave Dombrowski says Iglesias will visit Dr. Thomas Clanton of the Steadman Clinic. Dombrowski says Sunday there is no telling how long Iglesias could be sidelined until he is examined by Dr. Clanton.

Analysis: Manager Brad Ausmus says Iglesias is dealing with a stress reaction in his shins, and the Tigers want to make sure the issue doesn't become any more of a concern. Iglesias finished second in last year's American League rookie of the year vote, hitting .303 in 109 games.
