Analysis: Gonzalez (10-10, 3.57 ERA) went 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA in his final five starts in the regular season, and he allowed two runs in 14 innings in back-to-back victories. Because he's the Nationals' only left-handed starter, Gonzalez could make the team's rotation for the playoffs, but he has gotten some stiff competition from Tanner Roark.

Gonzalez had been the scheduled starting pitcher in Wednesday night's game. Instead, Treinen is making his sixth start of the year.
Analysis: Washington manager Matt Williams also made some lineup adjustments. Michael Taylor is starting in center field and batting leadoff. Tyler Moore is playing first base and hitting cleanup. Left fielder Steven Souza, third baseman Kevin Frandsen, second baseman Jeff Kobernus and catcher Sandy Leon also are starting against the Braves.
