Latest News
Jul. 24 2:20 PM PT3:20 PM MT4:20 PM CT5:20 PM ET10:20 PM GMT6:20 AM 北京时间-Hughes threw two perfect innings of relief in the Yankees' 6-3 win over Oakland on Thursday.
Analysis: The right-hander, a converted starter, has thrown 22 consecutive scoreless innings and has not permitted a run in his past 15 outings since June 14.
Jul. 23 3:55 PM PT4:55 PM MT5:55 PM CT6:55 PM ET11:55 PM GMT7:55 AM 北京时间-Hughes pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the Yankees' 6-4 win over the Orioles on Wednesday.
Analysis: Hughes has a 0.81 ERA in 16 relief appearances this year. He has thrown 20 straight scoreless innings and not allowed a run in his past 14 outings.
Jul. 18 11:44 AM PT12:44 PM MT1:44 PM CT2:44 PM ET7:44 PM GMT3:44 AM 北京时间-Hughes allowed three hits with six strikeouts in two innings in Friday's 5-3 win over Detroit.
Analysis: Hughes made seven starts before switching to the bullpen on June 8 and has struck out 19 over 15 2-3 scoreless innings in his last 12 appearances, the longest shutout streak for the Yankees since Mariano Rivera three years ago. His velocity is up about 5 mph, and he's lowered his ERA from 5.45 to 3.76 since joining the bullpen.
Jun. 11 11:39 AM PT12:39 PM MT1:39 PM CT2:39 PM ET7:39 PM GMT3:39 AM 北京时间-Hughes could be headed back into the rotation after Chien-Ming Wang's struggles continued in Boston on Wednesday.
Analysis: Yankees manager Joe Girardi would not commit to giving Wang, whose ERA dropped from 14.46 to 14.34, another turn in the rotation. Hughes pitched 3 2-3 innings in relief and allowed two runs while striking out five.
Jun. 3 3:25 PM PT4:25 PM MT5:25 PM CT6:25 PM ET11:25 PM GMT7:25 AM 北京时间-The New York Yankees have decided to alter their rotation, opting to start Chien-Ming Wang against the Texas Rangers on Thursday and move Hughes into the bullpen.
Analysis: Wang has pitched well since he was activated from the disabled list May 22, but this is a tough break for Hughes, who is 2-0 with a 3.50 ERA and 21 strikeouts in his last three starts.
May 26 12:03 PM PT1:03 PM MT2:03 PM CT3:03 PM ET8:03 PM GMT4:03 AM 北京时间-Hughes limited the Rangers to three hits over eight shutout innings in the Yankees' 11-1 win on Monday.
Analysis: This was a big-time start for Hughes, whose spot in the rotation isn't secure with Chien-Ming Wang seemingly on his way back. He came up with a dazzling performance on the same field where he had a no-hitter through 6 1-3 innings before injuring his hamstring in May 2007.
May 21 10:04 AM PT11:04 AM MT12:04 PM CT1:04 PM ET6:04 PM GMT2:04 AM 北京时间-Hughes gave up three runs in five innings to earn the victory as the Yankees beat Baltimore 11-4 on Wednesday. Hughes lowered his ERA to 7.06.
Analysis: Hughes (2-2) struck out a career-high nine in five innings, limiting a Baltimore lineup that tagged him for eight runs and eight hits in 1 2-3 innings on May 9. It was an important start for the 22-year-old right-hander, whose big league future is uncertain because Chien-Ming Wang appears close to coming off the disabled list and rejoining the rotation.
May 17 11:01 AM PT12:01 PM MT1:01 PM CT2:01 PM ET7:01 PM GMT3:01 AM 北京时间-Hughes pitched five innings Friday, yielding three runs and four walks in the Yankees' 5-4 win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Hughes is 0-1 with a 14.85 ERA in his last two starts. He was 1-1 with a 2.70 in his first two outings this season.
May 10 9:14 AM PT10:14 AM MT11:14 AM CT12:14 PM ET5:14 PM GMT1:14 AM 北京时间-Hughes gave up eight runs, eight hits and two walks in 1 2-3 innings - the shortest start in his three-year career - as the Yankees lost 12-5 to Baltimore on Saturday.
Analysis: His ERA swelled from 2.70 to 8.49. He pitched six shutout innings in his season debut April 28, but his two ensuing starts have each gotten shorter and uglier.
May 5 9:34 AM PT10:34 AM MT11:34 AM CT12:34 PM ET5:34 PM GMT1:34 AM 北京时间-Hughes suffered his first loss Monday, allowing four runs over four innings in a 6-4 loss to Boston.
Analysis: Hughes can be expected to bounce back this weekend in his next start at Baltimore, particularly if former AL MVP Alex Rodriguez returns to the lineup.
Apr. 29 12:26 PM PT1:26 PM MT2:26 PM CT3:26 PM ET8:26 PM GMT4:26 AM 北京时间-In his first start since being recalled from Triple-A, Hughes pitched six scorless innings in a win over Detroit.
Analysis: Hughes gave up two hits and struck out six in his first start since last September and first win since 2007. Hughes was called up to replace Chien-Ming Wang in the rotation.
Mar. 21 12:59 PM PT1:59 PM MT2:59 PM CT3:59 PM ET8:59 PM GMT4:59 AM 北京时间-Hughes was one of four players optioned to the minors by the New York Yankees on Saturday.
Analysis: Hughes, who started the 2008 season in the Yankees rotation, had little chance to start this season after New York signed free agents CC Sabathia and A.J Burnett during the offseason. He did put himself in position to be called up in case of an injury by posting a 2.19 ERA in four spring training appearances.
