Analysis: Matsui, who had a single in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Angels, is batting .395 (15-for-38) with a homer, four doubles and seven RBIs during a 10-game hitting streak.
Apr. 18 5:05 PM PT6:05 PM MT7:05 PM CT8:05 PM ET1:05 AM GMT9:05 AM 北京时间-Matsui's surgically repaired left knee has filled with fluid, causing the banged-up New York Yankees to recall first baseman Juan Miranda from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Analysis: Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Friday that Matsui would be limited to pinch-hitting, possibly for a few more days. Matsui had surgery on the knee Sept. 22, and the Yankees don't expect him to play the outfield until June. "His knees are pretty beat up, and you don't know how they're going to react from day to day. Hopefully, it's just one day for him," Girardi said.
Mar. 18 10:48 AM PT11:48 AM MT12:48 PM CT1:48 PM ET6:48 PM GMT2:48 AM 北京时间-Matsui won't play in the outfield for the New York Yankees until at least interleague road games in June and will be restricted to designated hitter and pinch-hitting appearances until then.
Analysis: Matsui is recovering from left knee surgery last Sept. 22. Yankees manager Joe Girardi doesn't want to take the chance of a setback. Matsui could hit fourth until third baseman Alex Rodriguez returns from right hip surgery. Rodriguez, expected back in May, would return to his normal cleanup position, with Matsui possibly dropping to fifth.
