Analysis: New York general manager Brian Cashman described the procedure as a ''cleanup'' and ''it's not something of concern.'' Cashman said Wednesday the operation will take place in the next week. Sabathia, a 36-year-old left-hander, pitched with a brace on the knee this year. He went 9-12 with a 3.91 ERA, his lowest ERA since 2012.
