Analysis: Sabathia has now won two straight starts and pitched well in both, with each coming on the road. The 36-year-old has been rocked for 13 runs in 9 2/3 innings in his last two outings at Yankee Stadium, a trend he'll try to reverse when he faces the A's on Friday.

Analysis: Pitching on six days' rest, Sabathia won for the first time since April 15. And the fact he got back on track in Kansas City should come as no surprise: He is 13-5 in 21 career starts there, matching the record for most wins by a visitor.

Analysis: The 36-year-old pitcher is in one of the worst stretches of his career, allowing 22 earned runs in 20 2/3 innings over his last four starts. Sabathia was pitching on an extra day's rest after his shortest start of the season - six runs in four innings against Toronto.

Sabathia's next scheduled start is Sunday at Baltimore. Sabathia joined Herb Pennock, Frank Tanana, Tommy John, Jim Kaat, Kenny Rogers, Mike Flanagan, Lefty Grove and David Wells as the only left-handers in AL history to make at least one start in 17 different seasons.
