Oct. 4 9:50 AM PT10:50 AM MT11:50 AM CT12:50 PM ET5:50 PM GMT1:50 AM 北京时间-Arroyo has decided against surgery on his right wrist for the carpal tunnel syndrome that has nagged him for years.
Analysis: Arroyo said Sunday that he'll treat the problem conservatively instead of having surgery. He led the Reds with 15 wins this season and had a 3.84 ERA that was best in the rotation. Arroyo pitched a team-high 220 1-3 innings despite the problem, which flared up during spring training.
Oct. 1 11:08 AM PT12:08 PM MT1:08 PM CT2:08 PM ET7:08 PM GMT3:08 AM 北京时间-Arroyo has denied accusations by the St. Louis Cardinals that he used pine tar to get better grips on pitches.
Analysis: St. Louis manager Tony La Russa and pitching coach Dave Duncan both told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch the stain on the bill of Arroyo's cap was pine tar that helped him grip balls during a 6-1 victory Wednesday. Cardinals starter John Smoltz found balls slippery and walked five walks in four innings while allowing six runs and six hits. Arroyo finished with 12 consecutive starts in which he went at least seven innings while allowing no more than three earned runs.
Sep. 25 12:12 PM PT1:12 PM MT2:12 PM CT3:12 PM ET8:12 PM GMT4:12 AM 北京时间-Arroyo limited Pittsburgh to one run over seven innings and the Cincinnati Reds completed their second sweep of the plummeting Pirates in less than a month, winning 4-1 on Thursday to push the Pirates closer to a 100-loss season.
Analysis: Arroyo, a former Pirates pitcher, has lasted at least seven innings in all 11 starts since Aug. 1, although his effectiveness is not reflected by his 4-3 record during that time.
Sep. 5 10:48 AM PT11:48 AM MT12:48 PM CT1:48 PM ET6:48 PM GMT2:48 AM 北京时间-Arroyo gave up one run in seven innings Friday in a 3-1 win over the Braves.
Analysis: Arroyo is 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA over his last five starts. "We obviously don't have a chance for the playoffs, but we have an opportunity to look at what we will have next year," Arroyo said.
Aug. 31 3:51 PM PT4:51 PM MT5:51 PM CT6:51 PM ET11:51 PM GMT7:51 AM 北京时间-Arroyo lasted 7 1-3 innings, allowing two runs and six hits, in the Reds' 3-2 loss in 12 innings to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
Analysis: It was the seventh consecutive quality start for Arroyo, who's just 1-3 in that stretch despite his 2.26 ERA.
Aug. 26 1:14 PM PT2:14 PM MT3:14 PM CT4:14 PM ET9:14 PM GMT5:14 AM 北京时间-Arroyo scattered six hits and one walk while striking out four in seven innings, and didn't get a decision in the Reds' 8-6, 13-inning victory over the Brewers on Tuesday.
Analysis: The right-hander has a 2.19 ERA in his last nine starts dating to July 10, but only has a 3-4 record in that span as the Reds have struggled with a slew of injuries.
Aug. 20 11:18 AM PT12:18 PM MT1:18 PM CT2:18 PM ET7:18 PM GMT3:18 AM 北京时间-Arroyo (11-12), who pitched a two-hitter in Cincinnati's 7-0 win over Washington last Thursday, allowed nine hits in eight innings as the Reds lost 1-0 to the Giants on Wednesday.
Analysis: Nate Schierholtz's eight-inning double snapped Arroyo's streak of consecutive scoreless innings at 17.
Aug. 14 3:56 PM PT4:56 PM MT5:56 PM CT6:56 PM ET11:56 PM GMT7:56 AM 北京时间-If Major League Baseball wants to talk with Arroyo about the supplements he takes, he doesn't know about it. Arroyo told USA Today this week that he takes supplements which haven't been approved by MLB. Baseball said it would like to talk with Arroyo and remind him which supplements are approved.
Analysis: Arroyo said he hadn't heard from anybody Friday. "It's hard to get a hold of me, unless you're in this locker room," Arroyo said before the Reds played Washington. "I get tired of talking on the phone. Sometimes, I'd like to throw it in the river. I don't pick up if it's a number I don't know."
Aug. 14 3:27 PM PT4:27 PM MT5:27 PM CT6:27 PM ET11:27 PM GMT7:27 AM 北京时间-Arroyo needed just 103 pitches to complete a two-hitter over the Washington Nationals on Thursday, striking out three and walking one in the Reds' 7-0 win.
Analysis: Arroyo had been 0-3 in his previous four starts and hadn't won since beating Milwaukee 4-0 on July 17. He allowed just one runner as far as second base.
Aug. 9 10:28 AM PT11:28 AM MT12:28 PM CT1:28 PM ET6:28 PM GMT2:28 AM 北京时间-Arroyo gave up three runs on seven hits to lose his third decision in a row, 4-2 to the Giants on Saturday.
Analysis: It was the third straight quality start for Arroyo, but he is 0-2 in those games. He's been relatively consistent over the last month, going 2-3 with a 3.02 ERA.
Aug. 3 10:13 AM PT11:13 AM MT12:13 PM CT1:13 PM ET6:13 PM GMT2:13 AM 北京时间-Arroyo gave up three runs and seven hits over seven innings in a 6-4, 11-inning loss to Colorado on Sunday.
Analysis: Arroyo wasn't happy with his second no-decision in 22 starts. "We're finding ways to lose all the time," Arroyo said. "It keeps snowballing. We get a lead, and we give it up. We fall behind, and we can't come back. We're definitely sliding downhill. It's got to stop at some point."
Jul. 29 1:22 PM PT2:22 PM MT3:22 PM CT4:22 PM ET9:22 PM GMT5:22 AM 北京时间-Arroyo gave up three runs and nine hits over 6 1-3 innings in a 3-2 loss to San Diego on Tuesday.
Analysis: Arroyo has a decision in 20 of 21 starts this year, and has logged 130 2-3 innings.
Jul. 18 1:03 PM PT2:03 PM MT3:03 PM CT4:03 PM ET9:03 PM GMT5:03 AM 北京时间-Arroyo had his second straight scoreless performance as Cincinnati beat Milwaukee 4-0 on Friday night.
Analysis: Arroyo was coming off his best showing of the season, a four-hitter for a 3-0 win over the Mets last Friday. The right-hander kept his scoreless streak going by giving up only five hits.
Jul. 11 2:30 PM PT3:30 PM MT4:30 PM CT5:30 PM ET10:30 PM GMT6:30 AM 北京时间-Arroyo threw a four-hitter for his second career shutout to beat the Mets 3-0 on Friday night.
Analysis: The Mets didn't get a runner past second base against Arroyo, who got 15 groundball outs. The win, Arroyo's second complete game of the season, snapped a three-start skid for the right-hander. Arroyo had a 10.29 ERA in those games.
Jul. 6 3:59 PM PT4:59 PM MT5:59 PM CT6:59 PM ET11:59 PM GMT7:59 AM 北京时间-Arroyo lost his third straight start Sunday, falling to St. Louis.
Analysis: Arroyo gave up eight runs - five earned - and 11 hits in five innings. He is 8-8 with a 5.85 ERA this season and has a 10.29 ERA in his last three starts. He's given up six home runs in those outings.
Jul. 1 10:20 AM PT11:20 AM MT12:20 PM CT1:20 PM ET6:20 PM GMT2:20 AM 北京时间-Arroyo allowed six runs and 10 hits in 5 1-3 innings of a 6-2 loss to Arizona on Tuesday.
Analysis: Arroyo wrapped up a disappointing June, going 1-4 with a 6.82 ERA in six starts.
Jun. 29 12:34 PM PT1:34 PM MT2:34 PM CT3:34 PM ET8:34 PM GMT4:34 AM 北京时间-Arroyo said he's considering having carpal tunnel surgery on his right wrist after the season.
Analysis: "I'm worried about it all the time," said Arroyo, who has had soreness since 2004 and been forced to give up his favorite hobby of playing the guitar. "It's gotten to the point where it's sore whenever I do anything." A cortisone shot has enabled Arroyo, who is 8-6 with a 5.54 ERA, to continue to pitch.
Jun. 20 12:59 PM PT1:59 PM MT2:59 PM CT3:59 PM ET8:59 PM GMT4:59 AM 北京时间-Arroyo held the White Sox to two runs and two hits while striking out a season-high seven in 6 2-3 innings of a 4-3 victory Friday night.
Analysis: Before Friday, Arroyo was 0-2 with a 6.23 ERA in three June starts - all Reds losses. He managed to snap that winless streak by returning to Great American Ball Park, where he's 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA over his last four starts.
Jun. 8 2:15 PM PT3:15 PM MT4:15 PM CT5:15 PM ET10:15 PM GMT6:15 AM 北京时间-Arroyo went seven innings for the Reds, yielding three runs and five hits, but also committed a costly throwing error that led to two unearned runs in the third in Cincinnati's 6-3 loss in 14 innings on Sunday.
Analysis: Arroyo is 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA in his past four starts, and he's given up one in three of those outings.
Jun. 3 9:51 AM PT10:51 AM MT11:51 AM CT12:51 PM ET5:51 PM GMT1:51 AM 北京时间-Arroyo (7-4) needed 98 pitches to get through five innings with the score tied, and then recorded only one more out in the Cardinals' three-run sixth in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: Arroyo was 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA in his previous two starts.
May 28 12:55 PM PT1:55 PM MT2:55 PM CT3:55 PM ET8:55 PM GMT4:55 AM 北京时间-Arroyo recorded his first complete game of the season, and allowed one run and five hits in a 6-1 victory in Houston on Wednesday night.
Analysis: Arroyo (7-3, 5.12 ERA), who is tied with New York's Johan Santana for the NL lead in wins, has allowed one run and five hits in each of his consecutive victories. He was 1-2 with a 10.20 ERA in his three previous starts, and has recorded a decision in each of his 10 starts. Arroyo will likely pitch Tuesday night in St. Louis and is 5-6 with a 4.29 ERA in 14 career starts versus the Cardinals.
May 23 11:34 AM PT12:34 PM MT1:34 PM CT2:34 PM ET7:34 PM GMT3:34 AM 北京时间-Arroyo gave up five hits and one run in eight innings of the Reds' 3-1 victory over Cleveland on Friday night.
Analysis: A great outing from Arroyo, but he's been wildly inconsistent this year and has a 5.79 ERA, so put him into your lineup at your own risk.
May 18 12:42 PM PT1:42 PM MT2:42 PM CT3:42 PM ET8:42 PM GMT4:42 AM 北京时间-Arroyo pitched seven innings, allowing three runs and six hits in Sunday's 3-1 loss to San Diego.
Analysis: Arroyo is 2-3 with an 8.16 ERA after winning his first three starts this season.
May 12 10:34 AM PT11:34 AM MT12:34 PM CT1:34 PM ET6:34 PM GMT2:34 AM 北京时间-Arroyo allowed five runs and 10 hits in seven innings, striking out five, and picked up his fifth win as the Reds opened a six-game Western swing with a 13-5 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.
Analysis: Arroyo's been awful in two starts and shaky in a few more, leading him to a 7.02 ERA. Yet somehow, he has five wins, largely thanks to the Reds' offense.
May 7 2:28 PM PT3:28 PM MT4:28 PM CT5:28 PM ET10:28 PM GMT6:28 AM 北京时间-Arroyo was knocked out of the game before recording an out in the second inning Wednesday against Milwaukee, matching the shortest outing of his career while being charged with nine runs in the Reds' 15-3 loss.
Analysis: It was the second time in three starts Arroyo had allowed nine runs. Meanwhile, he sandwiched eight shutout innings against Pittsburgh in between, meaning you can never predict what the veteran right-hander if going to do from start to start.
May 2 9:43 AM PT10:43 AM MT11:43 AM CT12:43 PM ET5:43 PM GMT1:43 AM 北京时间-Arroyo bounced back from his worst start of the season to limit Pittsburgh to four singles over eight innings in a 4-0 Cincinnati win Friday night.
Analysis: Arroyo allowed eight or more hits in three of his first four starts and was coming off a 10-2 loss to Atlanta on Saturday in which he gave up nine runs and nine hits in 5 2-3 innings, jumping his ERA to 6.48. "When things are going good and the pitching staff feels good, you definitely want to continue that," Arroyo said. "I feel like this is definitely the best staff we've had since I've been here."
Apr. 21 12:44 PM PT1:44 PM MT2:44 PM CT3:44 PM ET8:44 PM GMT4:44 AM 北京时间-Arroyo allowed three runs and nine hits in seven innings of a 4-3 win over Houston on Monday.
Analysis: Arroyo has opened a season with three consecutive wins for the first time in his career. He has a 4.19 ERA.
Apr. 20 3:06 PM PT4:06 PM MT5:06 PM CT6:06 PM ET11:06 PM GMT7:06 AM 北京时间-Arroyo looks to open a season with three consecutive victories for the first time in his career when he takes the ball for the Reds in the finale of a four-game road series against the Houston Astros on Monday night.
Analysis: Arroyo was bothered by a flare-up of carpal tunnel syndrome during spring training and didn't look particularly sharp in winning his first outing over the New York Mets on April 9. On Tuesday, though, he gave up one run and four hits in 6 1-3 innings of Cincinnati's 6-1 victory over Milwaukee to open with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2006. "My arm felt good. My hand felt good," Arroyo told the Reds' official Web site.
Apr. 15 11:46 AM PT12:46 PM MT1:46 PM CT2:46 PM ET7:46 PM GMT3:46 AM 北京时间-Arroyo held Milwaukee to four hits in six-plus innings as Cincinnati won 6-1 on Tuesday night.
Analysis: Arroyo was bothered by a flare-up of carpal tunnel syndrome during spring training and didn't look particularly sharp in winning his first outing last week. But on Tuesday he gave up his only run on a solo homer by Milwaukee's J.J. Hardy in the second inning, and said his arm and hand felt good afterward.
Mar. 30 12:02 PM PT1:02 PM MT2:02 PM CT3:02 PM ET8:02 PM GMT4:02 AM 北京时间-Arroyo is having a flare-up of the carpal tunnel syndrome that has bothered him from time to time over the last few years.
Analysis: This bout is especially painful, along with the timing. The season starts in less than one week. It returned last May and gave him problems for about three months. The right-hander can pitch with the problem, but he'd rather not have to try.
