Aug. 25 12:42 PM PT1:42 PM MT2:42 PM CT3:42 PM ET8:42 PM GMT4:42 AM 北京时间-Santana needs surgery for bone chips in his left elbow and the star pitcher is out for the season, the latest blow to a New York Mets team battered by injuries.
Analysis: The team said its 30-year-old ace is expected to be ready for spring training next year. He was examined Tuesday by Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek in New York. The Mets had feared a major injury to the two-time Cy Young winner, who has four seasons left on his $137.5 million, six-year contract. Instead, Santana, 13-9 with a 3.13 ERA, will have arthroscopic surgery.
Aug. 21 11:48 AM PT12:48 PM MT1:48 PM CT2:48 PM ET7:48 PM GMT3:48 AM 北京时间-Santana suffered his first loss in five starts as he continued his struggles against Atlanta on Thursday night. The Mets ace dropped to 1-5 in eight games versus the Braves as he allowed three runs and nine hits over seven innings.
Analysis: Santana (13-9, 3.13 ERA) has been erractic of late. He has posted a 0.60 ERA in his last two victories but a 5.40 ERA in his four non-winning starts since July 24. He'll try to bounce back Tuesday night in Florida. After winning five straight starts against the Marlins, Santana is 0-1 in his two matchups this season despite a 1.29 ERA.
Aug. 16 10:06 AM PT11:06 AM MT12:06 PM CT1:06 PM ET6:06 PM GMT2:06 AM 北京时间-Santana gave up nine hits and four runs over 6 2-3 innings Saturday against the Giants, and left without a decision in San Francisco's 5-4, 10-inning win.
Analysis: Santana hasn't won either of his last two home starts after going 8-2 with a 1.69 ERA in his first 11 outings at Citi Field. He has a 5.52 ERA in two August starts at home.
Aug. 10 2:08 PM PT3:08 PM MT4:08 PM CT5:08 PM ET10:08 PM GMT6:08 AM 北京时间-Santana threw eight solid innings and tied his career high with two hits and an RBI as the New York Mets avoided a four-game sweep with a 5-1 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
Analysis: Santana (13-8) limited the Padres to one run and five hits as New York won for only the third time in 11 games.
Aug. 5 11:51 AM PT12:51 PM MT1:51 PM CT2:51 PM ET7:51 PM GMT3:51 AM 北京时间-Santana matched a season-high by giving up five earned runs but avoided the loss in Tuesday night's 12-7 loss in 10 innings to visiting St. Louis.
Analysis: Santana (12-8, 3.10 ERA) will likely pitch again Monday night at Arizona, and he's 2-0 with a 0.62 ERA in four career starts against the Diamondbacks.
Jul. 31 12:16 PM PT1:16 PM MT2:16 PM CT3:16 PM ET8:16 PM GMT4:16 AM 北京时间-Santana struck out eight over seven innings in a 7-0 win over visiting Colorado - the opener of Thursday's doubleheader - for his third win in four starts.
Analysis: Santana (12-8, 2.96 ERA), part of a four-way tie for the NL wins lead, has thrown seven scoreless innings in each of his last three victories and has a 1.63 ERA over his last four starts. He's scheduled to pitch Tuesday night against visiting St. Louis and is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA in his career versus the Cardinals.
Jul. 12 10:50 AM PT11:50 AM MT12:50 PM CT1:50 PM ET6:50 PM GMT2:50 AM 北京时间-Santana allowed five hits in seven innings of a 4-0 win over the Reds on Saturday.
Analysis: Santana, 10-7 with a 3.09 ERA, has yielded two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts.
Jul. 1 11:53 AM PT12:53 PM MT1:53 PM CT2:53 PM ET7:53 PM GMT3:53 AM 北京时间-Santana gave up six runs - five earned - in six innings of a 6-3 loss at Milwaukee on Tuesday night.
Analysis: Santana lost for the third time in four starts, though he had held opponents to three total runs over 14 1-3 innings spanning his previous two. The left-hander is 3-4 with a 5.18 ERA in seven road outings this year.
Jun. 26 9:14 AM PT10:14 AM MT11:14 AM CT12:14 PM ET5:14 PM GMT1:14 AM 北京时间-Santana was victorious over Chris Carpenter in a sparkling matchup of Cy Young Award winners as New York beat St. Louis 3-2 on Thursday.
Analysis: Santana, the AL Cy Young Award winner for Minnesota in 2004 and 2006, made his second straight solid start since allowing a career-high nine runs in a 15-0 loss to the Yankees on June 14. He gave up two runs _ one earned _ and seven hits in seven innings to win for the first time in three starts and lower his ERA to 3.08.
Jun. 21 9:16 AM PT10:16 AM MT11:16 AM CT12:16 PM ET5:16 PM GMT1:16 AM 北京时间-Santana was back in fine form Saturday, but it wasn't enough as New York lost 3-1 to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Santana was tagged for nine runs and nine hits in three-plus innings Sunday, losing 15-0 in the Subway Series finale at Yankee Stadium. The sluggish performance raised questions about Santana's health. After adjusting his mechanics, the ace pitched well against the top-scoring team in the majors. He didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning, yielding three overall.
Jun. 16 3:40 PM PT4:40 PM MT5:40 PM CT6:40 PM ET11:40 PM GMT7:40 AM 北京时间-Santana insists his left knee isn't hurt and said location was the only problem he experienced while surrendering a career-high nine runs in a 15-0 loss to the New York Yankees on Sunday.
Analysis: Before Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, Santana reacted with surprise to comments from former pitching coach Rick Peterson, who told a New York radio station that he'd heard a rumor that Santana was dealing with a bum left knee. Santana admitted that he was troubled a month ago by a blister and split fingernail on his left middle finger that briefly made him alter the grip on his fastball, but those injuries have healed.
Jun. 10 9:47 AM PT10:47 AM MT11:47 AM CT12:47 PM ET5:47 PM GMT1:47 AM 北京时间-Despite tying a career high with four home runs allowed, Santana won for the fourth time in five starts Tuesday night in a 6-5 victory over visiting Philadelphia.
Analysis: Santana (8-3, 2.39 ERA) allowed a season-high five earned runs over eight innings. He also gave up four home runs on July 23, 2007, in Toronto but suffered the loss in that start. Santana is scheduled to pitch Sunday at Yankee Stadium, and is 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA in seven career starts against the New York Yankees.
Jun. 3 9:04 AM PT10:04 AM MT11:04 AM CT12:04 PM ET5:04 PM GMT1:04 AM 北京时间-Santana (7-3) gave up three runs and seven hits in six innings as the Mets lost 3-1 at Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
Analysis: Santana retired the first 10 batters of the game but the Pirates seemed to solve him after that, with eight of the next 12 batters reaching against him.
May 28 10:13 AM PT11:13 AM MT12:13 PM CT1:13 PM ET6:13 PM GMT2:13 AM 北京时间-Santana allowed three runs over six innings and struck out 11 to win 7-4 over Washington on Wednesday.
Analysis: Santana issued six walks, one shy of his career worst, in a 120-pitch outing. He has won three straight starts.
May 23 11:23 AM PT12:23 PM MT1:23 PM CT2:23 PM ET7:23 PM GMT3:23 AM 北京时间-Santana allowed two earned runs, six hits and a walk in seven innings Friday night as the Mets beat Boston 5-3.
Analysis: Santana struck out eight, including David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis three times each, and erased a bad history at Fenway Park. Before this game, he had been 1-3 with a 6.89 ERA in Boston. His 1.50 ERA currently leads the NL.
May 17 10:08 AM PT11:08 AM MT12:08 PM CT1:08 PM ET6:08 PM GMT2:08 AM 北京时间-Santana allowed a season-high six runs, his four earned runs double his previous 2009 total, but he picked up his fifth victory as the potent Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 9-6 on Saturday with another late rally.
Analysis: Santana, the NL ERA leader at 0.78 coming in, was far from dominant, allowing 11 hits for just the second time in his career. Still, Santana moved to 12-0 in 13 starts when the Mets score at least five runs while he's in the game.
May 12 9:47 AM PT10:47 AM MT11:47 AM CT12:47 PM ET5:47 PM GMT1:47 AM 北京时间-Santana gave up seven hits and two unearned runs over 6 1-3 innings on Monday, striking out six, and the Mets lost to the Braves 8-3 at Citi Field.
Analysis: The two-time Cy Young Award winner was pulled after 108 pitches with the score tied at 1. He lowered his NL-best ERA to 0.78 through seven starts - but somehow New York has lost three of them.
May 7 2:40 PM PT3:40 PM MT4:40 PM CT5:40 PM ET10:40 PM GMT6:40 AM 北京时间-Santana extended his dominant start to the season, striking out 10 in seven innings of two-hit ball, and New York scratched out a run Wednesday night on Pedro Feliz's throwing error for a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Analysis: Santana lowered his ERA to 0.91 and won 1-0 for the second time in six starts this year.
Apr. 29 3:27 PM PT4:27 PM MT5:27 PM CT6:27 PM ET11:27 PM GMT7:27 AM 北京时间-Santana allowed two runs and five hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings against the Marlins on Tuesday. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was in line for the win when he exited, but the bullpen blew the lead as the Mets lost 4-3.
Analysis: A dreadful Mets bullpen cost Santana seven potential wins last season— including five meltdowns that came in the ninth inning. The team thought it solved that problem in the offseason by signing record-setting closer Francisco Rodriguez and trading for J.J. Putz, but that wasn't the case Wednesday. Santana is 3-1 with a 1.10 ERA in five starts this season.
Apr. 25 12:55 PM PT1:55 PM MT2:55 PM CT3:55 PM ET8:55 PM GMT4:55 AM 北京时间-Santana held Washington to one run and six hits while striking out 10 in six innings of a 4-3 win on Friday night.
Analysis: Santana hasn't allowed more than one earned run in any of his first four starts in 2009. He's 3-1 with a 0.70 ERA and 37 strikeouts spanning 25 2-3 innings.
Apr. 19 10:05 AM PT11:05 AM MT12:05 PM CT1:05 PM ET6:05 PM GMT2:05 AM 北京时间-Santana breezed through seven innings in his first start at Citi Field, leading New York to a 1-0 win over Milwaukee on Saturday.
Analysis: Santana allowed five hits and struck out seven without issuing a walk. He never allowed a Brewers baserunner past first. Santana was coming off a sharp performance against the Florida Marlins in which both runs were unearned in a 2-1 loss. He's allowed only one earned run in his first 19 2-3 innings, and hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a start since last July 17.
Apr. 7 3:09 PM PT4:09 PM MT5:09 PM CT6:09 PM ET11:09 PM GMT7:09 AM 北京时间-Santana allowed one run and three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in 5 2-3 innings of a 2-1 win over Cincinnati on Monday.
Analysis: Santana hasn't lost a start since June 28. In 18 starts since then, the left-hander is 10-0 with a 2.07 ERA and 110 strikeouts in 126 1-3 innings. He continues to be one of the top fantasy pitchers.
Apr. 1 5:04 PM PT6:04 PM MT7:04 PM CT8:04 PM ET1:04 AM GMT9:04 AM 北京时间-Santana pitched three innings in his final tuneup for opening day, allowing a pair of solo homers during the New York Mets' 5-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday.
Analysis: The Mets limited Santana to 36 pitches in his final spring training start. Home runs by Rick Ankiel and Chris Duncan were the only hits he allowed. Elbow stiffness slowed Santana early in camp, limiting the two-time Cy Young Award winner to four starts this spring. He allowed seven earned runs and 12 hits in 17 2-3 innings, walking two. The left-hander proclaimed himself ready to start the season opener Monday at Cincinnati.
Mar. 17 3:00 PM PT4:00 PM MT5:00 PM CT6:00 PM ET11:00 PM GMT7:00 AM 北京时间-Rather than have Santana ride a bus 2 hours to pitch against division rival Atlanta, the Mets had their ace pitch against New York minor leaguers for four innings Tuesday in his second outing since knee surgery. Santana allowed two runs and six hits in four innings, striking out five and walking none. He gave up three doubles and threw 40 of 56 pitches for strikes.
Analysis: The two-time Cy Young Award winner had hoped to pitch for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. After being slowed by elbow tightness, he made his first spring training outing last Thursday against Florida, giving up three runs and four hits in 2 2-3 innings. Santana reported no problems with the elbow, which caused him to miss two scheduled starts. He hopes to start the April 6 opener at Cincinnati.
Mar. 12 6:51 PM PT7:51 PM MT8:51 PM CT9:51 PM ET2:51 AM GMT10:51 AM 北京时间-Santana made his spring debut Thursday after pushing back his first start because of elbow tightness. He gave up four hits and three runs, including a homer to Dan Uggla, in 2 2-3 innings against the Florida Marlins.
Analysis: Santana struck out two and hit a batter in his first game action since having offseason knee surgery. Santana needed just 10 pitches to get through a perfect first inning. Hampered by a tendered elbow, Santana was scratched from a start Feb. 27 and saw his role as opening day starter put in jeopardy at one point. But he has breezed through several bullpen sessions and the two-time Cy Young Award winner is on track to make that first start in Cincinnati on April 6.
Mar. 7 12:22 PM PT1:22 PM MT2:22 PM CT3:22 PM ET8:22 PM GMT4:22 AM 北京时间-Santana doesn't see any reason why he won't be ready for opening day. Santana, hindered last week by elbow tightness, threw 36 pitches in live batting practice Saturday before the Mets played an exhibition game against the Washington Nationals.
Analysis: It was the first time he'd faced hitters since knee surgery in October, and said everything went well. "I pitched today with no problems in my elbow or my arm or anything, so I am fine, and at the same time I was working on my pitches and I was able to command it, so that's what you want to see,'' Santana said.
Apr. 6 4:09 PM PT5:09 PM MT6:09 PM CT7:09 PM ET12:09 AM GMT8:09 AM 北京时间-Santana threw 46 pitches off a mound early Wednesday in his most ambitious and productive bullpen session since the start of spring training, and made it clear he wants to start for New York on April 6 in Cincinnati despite concerns over his tender elbow.
Analysis: Santana has an irritated triceps tendon that has caused discomfort in his throwing elbow. The two-time Cy Young winner has yet to pitch in a spring training game for the Mets, but he threw all of his pitches Wednesday under the watchful eye of pitching coach Dan Warthen.
Mar. 1 1:04 PM PT2:04 PM MT3:04 PM CT4:04 PM ET9:04 PM GMT5:04 AM 北京时间-Santana said he was OK after throwing a bullpen session Sunday morning, and the Mets reversed their initial decision to send him to snowy New York for an MRI on his balky left elbow. Before the bullpen session, general manager Omar Minaya said Santana was heading to New York on Monday's off day for an MRI on his left elbow, calling the exam "precautionary.''
Analysis: Santana, who has battled tightness in his elbow, long-tossed with new closer Francisco Rodriguez before heading to the bullpen for a 15-minute session with catcher Omir Santos. The 29-year-old threw 31 pitches hours before the club's game with the Houston Astros.
Feb. 28 8:54 AM PT9:54 AM MT10:54 AM CT11:54 AM ET4:54 PM GMT12:54 AM 北京时间-Santana says that his opening day start could be in jeopardy as he continues to battle tightness in his elbow. Santana met with Mets general manager Omar Minaya and manager Jerry Manuel for about 40 minutes Saturday morning to discuss a plan of action for his ailing elbow.
Analysis: The Mets plan to have him throw a light bullpen session on Sunday to see how he responds, even though he said Saturday he still has tightness in the elbow. If all goes well with Sunday's bullpen, Santana said he would need another two or three batting practice sessions with two days off in between before making his first Grapefruit League start.
Feb. 27 2:07 PM PT3:07 PM MT4:07 PM CT5:07 PM ET10:07 PM GMT6:07 AM 北京时间-Santana has been scratched from his second straight start by the New York Mets because of a sore left elbow.
Analysis: After Santana missed a scheduled "B" game appearance Friday against Italy's national team, the Mets said their ace would not take his turn Tuesday against St. Louis. That was to have been his first regular spring training game appearance of the year.
Feb. 26 4:07 PM PT5:07 PM MT6:07 PM CT7:07 PM ET12:07 AM GMT8:07 AM 北京时间-Santana was scratched from Friday morning's "B" game against Italy with tenderness in his pitching elbow.
Analysis: Mets manager Jerry Manuel said the move was precautionary because Santana has a history of feeling elbow soreness this time of the year. Santana remains on track to make his regular exhibition game debut Tuesday. Santana went 16-7 last year with a major league-best 2.53 ERA in his first season with the Mets.
Feb. 13 11:43 AM PT12:43 PM MT1:43 PM CT2:43 PM ET7:43 PM GMT3:43 AM 北京时间-Santana will not be pitching for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. The Venezuelan Baseball Federation announced Friday the two-time Cy Young winner will miss the tournament that begins next month.
Analysis: Federation president Edwin Zerpa said organizers of the tournament, World Baseball Classic Inc., are not willing to pay the high insurance premium required for the Mets to clear Santana after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. "It puts him in a high-risk category," Zerpa said.
