Latest News
Nov. 5 10:45 AM PT11:45 AM MT12:45 PM CT1:45 PM ET6:45 PM GMT2:45 AM 北京时间-Martinez allowed four runs and three hits Wednesday in a 7-3 loss to the Yankees in Game 6 of the World Series.
Analysis: Martinez went 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA in two World Series starts for the NL champion Phillies.
Oct. 30 8:38 AM PT9:38 AM MT10:38 AM CT11:38 AM ET4:38 PM GMT12:38 AM 北京时间-Martinez allowed three runs and six hits over six-plus innings in a 3-1 loss to the Yankees in Game 2 of the World Series on Thursday.
Analysis: Matrtinez struck out eight, but gave up solo homers to Mark Teixeira and Hideki Matsui. "The fans, I enjoy that," Martinez said. "I know they really want to root for me. It's just that I don't play for the Yankees, that's all. I've always been a good competitor, and they love that. They love the fact that I compete. I'm a New Yorker, as well. If I was on the Yankees, I'd probably be like a king over here."
Oct. 24 12:51 PM PT1:51 PM MT2:51 PM CT3:51 PM ET8:51 PM GMT4:51 AM 北京时间-If New York advances to the World Series against the Phillies, Martinez would love to get the ball again at Yankee Stadium, the new $1.5 billion version. He won't be intimidated by the crowd, that's for sure.
Analysis: The defending champion Phillies haven't set their rotation for the World Series, which starts Wednesday in New York or Anaheim, Calif. Cliff Lee, who is 2-0 with a sparkling 0.74 ERA in three postseason starts, almost certainly will start the opener. Martinez or Cole Hamels would start Game 2 on the road.
Oct. 1 11:16 PM PT12:16 AM MT1:16 AM CT2:16 AM ET7:16 AM GMT3:16 PM 北京时间-The Philadelphia Phillies have scratched Martinez from Saturday's scheduled start in Milwaukee. He will be replaced by right-hander Kyle Kendrick.
Analysis: Martinez hurt his neck during an at-bat at Atlanta last Saturday. It is not clear when his turn in the rotation will be rescheduled. Martinez said before Friday's game in Milwaukee that he was feeling better but didn't want to jeopardize his availability for potential playoff games by pushing himself to come back too soon - especially with the Phillies in good position to clinch a playoff berth.
Sep. 4 2:13 PM PT3:13 PM MT4:13 PM CT5:13 PM ET10:13 PM GMT6:13 AM 北京时间-Martinez tossed seven impressive innings, allowing one run and striking out nine, to outpitch Tim Lincecum and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Thursday night.
Analysis: Martinez had plenty of pop on his fastball, often reaching the low 90s on the radar gun, and mixed in an effective changeup. He's now 3-0 with a 3.52 ERA in five starts with the Phillies.
Aug. 29 3:11 PM PT4:11 PM MT5:11 PM CT6:11 PM ET11:11 PM GMT7:11 AM 北京时间-Martinez allowed one hit and one walk in two innings in Friday's 4-2 win over Atlanta. He was on deck in the second - following the first rain delay - but didn't return after the second stoppage.
Analysis: Martinez is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in four starts this season.
Aug. 24 11:20 AM PT12:20 PM MT1:20 PM CT2:20 PM ET7:20 PM GMT3:20 AM 北京时间-In his return to New York, Martinez improved to 2-0 with the Phillies in Sunday's 9-7 win over the Mets. The right-hander, who was 32-28 with a 3.88 ERA in four seasons with New York, allowed four runs and seven hits over six innings.
Analysis: Martinez is scheduled to pitch Friday at home against Atlanta opposite Braves star rookie Tommy Hanson. He is 10-10 with a 3.75 ERA in 23 career starts but 0-2 with an 8.62 ERA in the last three matchups.
Aug. 19 3:40 PM PT4:40 PM MT5:40 PM CT6:40 PM ET11:40 PM GMT7:40 AM 北京时间-A 66-minute rain delay ruined Martinez's home debut with the Phillies, as he allowed Arizona to score one run in three innings before exiting a game Philadelphia went on to win 5-1.
Analysis: Martinez struck out three and retired the last eight batters he faced, but left after the long delay.
Aug. 13 4:24 PM PT5:24 PM MT6:24 PM CT7:24 PM ET12:24 AM GMT8:24 AM 北京时间-Martinez won in his return to the majors on Wednesday night, earning the victory in Philadelphia's 12-5 drubbing of the host Chicago Cubs. In his 215th career win, he allowed seven hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts during a five-inning stint that saw him throw 99 pitches. It was his first victory since Aug. 31 against Florida while with the New York Mets.
Analysis: Martinez (1-0, 5.40 ERA) will likely make his next start Tuesday night at home against Arizona. The right-hander hasn't faced the Diamondbacks since June 11, 2006, but was 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA in his previous four starts against them.
Aug. 10 2:45 PM PT3:45 PM MT4:45 PM CT5:45 PM ET10:45 PM GMT6:45 AM 北京时间-Martinez will make his return to the majors Wednesday when he starts for Philadelphia against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. He went 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA in three rehab starts in the minors.
Analysis: Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Monday that the three-time Cy Young winner will come off the 15-day disabled list. To make room for Martinez in the rotation, the NL East-leading Phillies are sending 46-year-old left-hander Jamie Moyer to the bullpen. Moyer leads the staff in wins with a 10-9 record, but his 5.47 ERA is third-worst in the majors. Martinez has a 214-99 career record but has pitched in only 25 games the past two seasons.
Jul. 26 11:55 AM PT12:55 PM MT1:55 PM CT2:55 PM ET7:55 PM GMT3:55 AM 北京时间-Martinez will make his first rehab start for the Phillies at Class-A Clearwater on Sunday.
Analysis: The three-time Cy Young Award winner signed a one-year contract this month after sitting out the first half of the season.
Jul. 21 12:43 PM PT1:43 PM MT2:43 PM CT3:43 PM ET8:43 PM GMT4:43 AM 北京时间-Martinez has taken a "really big step" forward after throwing 64 pitches over four innings in a simulated game.
Analysis: The Philadelphia Phillies' new right-hander faced hitters for the first time in 11 days on Tuesday and afterwards said he was excited about the outing. The 37-year-old Martinez, who last week signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Phillies, is on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder strain. He will throw off a bullpen mound Thursday, and if that goes well, will have another simulated game or pitch in a minor league game Sunday.
Jul. 20 3:19 PM PT4:19 PM MT5:19 PM CT6:19 PM ET11:19 PM GMT7:19 AM 北京时间-Martinez is getting closer to making a rehab start as he prepares for a return to the major leagues.
Analysis: The 37-year-old Martinez, who last week signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Phillies, is on the 15-day disabled list because of a shoulder strain. Philadelphia is mapping out a plan to get him back in the big leagues.
Jul. 18 3:16 PM PT4:16 PM MT5:16 PM CT6:16 PM ET11:16 PM GMT7:16 AM 北京时间-Martinez threw his first bullpen session as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, with new teammate Matt Stairs standing in at the plate.
Analysis: The 55-pitch session was only a small first step toward Martinez pitching for the Phillies. He'll join Class-A Clearwater on Monday and likely make at least a few starts in the minors before returning to the majors.
Aug. 12 7:50 AM PT8:50 AM MT9:50 AM CT10:50 AM ET3:50 PM GMT11:50 PM 北京时间-Martinez recorded nine of his first 12 outs by strikeout and worked six innings for the Double-A Reading on Wednesday night in his final rehab start. Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel said the right-hander will start on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs.
Analysis: In his best start since signing a one-year deal on July 15, the 37-year-old Martinez allowed three runs and five hits without walking a batter against the New York Yankees' Trenton affiliate. In that first four-inning span in which he struck out nine, Martinez gave up two hits, including a home run to shortstop Eduardo Nunez. Overall he looked free and easy, recording first-pitch strikes to 18 of the 23 batters he faced.
Jul. 14 7:40 PM PT8:40 PM MT9:40 PM CT10:40 PM ET3:40 AM GMT11:40 AM 北京时间-Martinez has agreed to a $1 million, one-year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, a person familiar with the negotiations said Tuesday night. The three-time Cy Young Award winner was in town for a physical, and the Phillies plan a news conference on Wednesday, according to the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement wasn't made it official.
Analysis: Martinez can earn up to $1.5 million in incentives. The eight-time All-Star will need to make at least a few starts in the minors before he's ready to join Philadelphia's depleted rotation. Martinez went 5-6 with a 5.61 ERA for the New York Mets last year.
Jul. 9 2:58 PM PT3:58 PM MT4:58 PM CT5:58 PM ET10:58 PM GMT6:58 AM 北京时间-Martinez says his agent is negotiating with the Philadelphia Phillies, trying to get the pitcher back into the major leagues.
Analysis: The 37-year-old Martinez says the Phillies watched him throw a simulated game this week in the Dominican Republic. Martinez went 5-6 with a 5.61 ERA for the New York Mets last year. The free agent pitched in the World Baseball Classic before this season started. Martinez is a three-time Cy Young Award winner.
Jul. 6 8:19 PM PT9:19 PM MT10:19 PM CT11:19 PM ET4:19 AM GMT12:19 AM 北京时间-The Phillies are scouting the free-agent Martinez in the Dominican Republic.
Analysis: The three-time AL Cy Young Award winner was 5-6 with a 5.61 ERA for the Mets last season. He represents a huge risk for fantasy owners if he signs with the Phillies to pitch at hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park.
Jun. 17 3:23 PM PT4:23 PM MT5:23 PM CT6:23 PM ET11:23 PM GMT7:23 AM 北京时间-Martinez said on Wednesday that he has had talks with the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays and hopes to sign a contract in the near future.
Analysis: Martinez, 37, has been training in his native Dominican Republic in hopes of returning to the majors. His four-year deal with the New York Mets ended after last season, making Martinez a free agent. "There's a good chance I'll be signing soon, but there still isn't anything firm," Martinez told The Associated Press. Martinez, who wants to sign with the team that has the best chance of winning a pennant, is 214-99 with a 2.91 ERA in 17 seasons.
