Kemp rejoins Dodgers, Gonzalez to Braves

(TSX / STATS) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired outfielder Matt Kemp from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for four players and cash considerations, the Dodgers announced Saturday.

Heading east to Atlanta are first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, pitchers Scott Kazmir and Brandon McCarthy and infielder Charlie Culberson. reported the Braves have already designated Gonzalez for assignment.


Yanks keep Sabathia on 1-year, $10M deal

(TSX / STATS) -- The New York Yankees and CC Sabathia agreed on a one-year deal worth a reported $10 million, according to multiple reports Saturday.

The 37-year-old left-handed free agent is coming off a roller-coaster season in which he suffered what might have been a career-ending knee injury in August. But Sabathia bounced back to anchor a rotation that carried the Yankees to the seventh game of the American League Championship Series.


Phils add 1B Santana for 3 years, $60M

(TSX / STATS) -- The Philadelphia Phillies added a consistent bat to their lineup on Friday by agreeing to a three-year, $60 million contract with first baseman Carlos Santana.

The Phillies also signed right-handed reliever Pat Neshek to a two-year, $16.25 million contract.


Angels land INF Cozart for 3 years, $38M

(TSX / STATS) -- The Los Angeles Angels agreed to terms with free agent infielder Zack Cozart on a three-year contract, the team announced Friday.

The Angels did not disclose financial terms, but the deal is worth a reported $38 million for Cozart to likely start at third base.


Giants trade LHP Moore to Rangers

(TSX / STATS) -- The San Francisco Giants traded left-handed pitcher Matt Moore to the Texas Rangers in exchange for several prospects, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

The deal is pending a physical, and neither team confirmed the trade. It is not yet clear which prospects the Giants will get in return for Moore.


Rose's defamation suit vs. Dowd tossed

(TSX / STATS) -- Pete Rose's defamation lawsuit against attorney John Dowd was dismissed by a federal court judge in Pennsylvania on Friday.

The two sides reached an agreement prior to Rose being deposed, according to ESPN.


Reliever Rondon, Astros agree to deal

(TSX / STATS) -- The Houston Astros agreed to terms on a two-year contract with free agent right-handed reliever Hector Rondon, the team announced Friday.

Though terms of the deal were not announced, the 29-year-old Rondon was expected to command in the neighborhood of $4.5 million to $5 million annually, according to the Houston Chronicle.


Tribe give Upton Jr. minor league deal

(TSX / STATS) -- Outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. and the Cleveland Indians agreed on a one-year, minor league deal on Friday, according to multiple reports.

Upton, 33, will receive a base salary of $1.5 million if he makes the Cleveland roster.


Former Tigers All-Star P Lary dies at 87

(TSX / STATS) -- Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Frank Lary, who won 123 games over 11 seasons, died this week, the team announced Friday. He was 87.

The Northport, Ala., native died Wednesday night after being hospitalized in Tuscaloosa with pneumonia.
