Analysis: The Giants announced their plans Monday. Fells has been bothered by an ankle injury in recent weeks and missed Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills. With tight end Jerome Cunningham sidelined with a knee injury, the Giants signed Will Tye off their practice squad Saturday.

The eight-year veteran shared the position with Larry Donnell last season, playing in all 16 games. He had 16 receptions for 188 yards and a career-high four touchdowns.
Analysis: Fells did not play in 2013, and said his return last year was "a big blessing. I wanted to be able to come back and prove I can still play this game." He played his first three NFL seasons with the Rams, mostly as a backup. In 2011, Fells started 15 games for Denver. He joined New England the next year, but made only four catches.
