Feb. 12 2:56 PM PT3:56 PM MT4:56 PM CT5:56 PM ET22:56 GMT6:56 AM 北京时间3:56 PM MST5:56 PM EST4:56 PM CT2:56 UAE (+1)17:56 ET20:56 - Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the club released strong safety Roman Harper, outside linebacker and defensive end Will Smith, and cornerback Jabari Greer. Loomis also says the club does not intend to re-sign linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who has been hampered by recurring knee injuries the past few seasons.
Analysis: Loomis says parting ways with four longtime Saints who played key roles in the club's only Super Bowl title was difficult. However, he says the moves were needed to help New Orleans bring its player payroll below the NFL's salary cap. Wednesday's moves will save nearly $17 million in 2014.
Nov. 19 2:21 PM PT3:21 PM MT4:21 PM CT5:21 PM ET22:21 GMT6:21 AM 北京时间3:21 PM MST5:21 PM EST4:21 PM CT2:21 UAE (+1)17:21 ET20:21 - Saints coach Sean Payton says Greer will miss the rest of the season because the cornerback's left knee injury during last Sunday's victory over San Francisco included a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Analysis: Payton had hinted Monday that the injury was serious, but waited until Tuesday to disclose the ACL tear and report that Greer is being placed on injured reserve.
Nov. 17 1:24 PM PT2:24 PM MT3:24 PM CT4:24 PM ET21:24 GMT5:24 AM 北京时间2:24 PM MST4:24 PM EST3:24 PM CT1:24 UAE (+1)16:24 ET19:24 - Greer has hurt his left leg in the first quarter Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers and team officials have quickly ruled him out for the rest of the game.
Analysis: Greer landed awkwardly after leaping to break up a third-down pass intended for Jon Baldwin. As Greer came down, he twisted his ankle and his knee appeared to buckle. The veteran was taken to the locker room on a cart. He waved to the crowd while receiving an enthusiastic ovation. Coming into the game, Greer, a 10-year veteran, had been credited with 30 tackles, including a tackle for a loss, along with an interception and 10 passes defended.
