Jan. 18 1:32 PM PT2:32 PM MT3:32 PM CT4:32 PM ET21:32 GMT5:32 AM 北京时间2:32 PM MST4:32 PM EST3:32 PM CT1:32 UAE (+1)16:32 19:32 - The San Francisco 49ers have released Billy Cundiff, making David Akers the only kicker on the roster heading into Sunday's NFC championship at Atlanta.
Analysis: The move came hours before the 49ers boarded a flight to Atlanta on Friday. San Francisco signed Cundiff on Jan. 1 to compete with the struggling Akers, a 15-year veteran who made 29 of 42 field-goal attempts in the regular season.
Jan. 12 3:06 PM PT4:06 PM MT5:06 PM CT6:06 PM ET23:06 GMT7:06 AM 北京时间4:06 PM MST6:06 PM EST5:06 PM CT3:06 UAE (+1)18:06 21:06 - Cundiff is inactive for the San Francisco 49ers playoff game against Green Bay after being brought in to challenge incumbent David Akers.
Analysis: Coach Jim Harbaugh said earlier in the week that Akers would be his kicker for Saturday's game but did not rule out the possibility of dressing two kickers. Akers has missed 13 of 42 field goal attempts this season.
Jan. 8 1:44 PM PT2:44 PM MT3:44 PM CT4:44 PM ET21:44 GMT5:44 AM 北京时间2:44 PM MST4:44 PM EST3:44 PM CT1:44 UAE (+1)16:44 19:44 - There's no questioning how badly Billy Cundiff wants another chance in the playoffs after the way last season ended. Cundiff and the Baltimore Ravens stayed home after he missed a potential tying 32-yard field goal in the closing seconds of the AFC championship game and New England went to the Super Bowl last season instead.
Analysis: These days, Cundiff has no qualms discussing his greatest career disappointment. He hopes to soon make a new impression on the NFL's postseason - succeeding as San Francisco's starting kicker. While coach Jim Harbaugh has yet to name Cundiff or incumbent David Akers the top guy for Saturday's NFC divisional playoff game against Green Bay, Cundiff is preparing as if he will play.
Jan. 7 1:19 PM PT2:19 PM MT3:19 PM CT4:19 PM ET21:19 GMT5:19 AM 北京时间2:19 PM MST4:19 PM EST3:19 PM CT1:19 UAE (+1)16:19 19:19 - David Akers and Cundiff were taking their competition to be San Francisco's playoff kicker to Candlestick Park on Monday.
Analysis: Coach Jim Harbaugh says there's a "good chance" both kickers will be on the roster for Saturday's NFC divisional playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, though he didn't specify whether each would be active. Harbaugh indicated "we have a leader in the clubhouse," but wouldn't say who it is. The 49ers (11-4-1) signed Cundiff on Jan. 1 to compete for a job with the struggling veteran Akers, who has made just 29 of 42 field goals this season.
Jan. 1 2:04 PM PT3:04 PM MT4:04 PM CT5:04 PM ET22:04 GMT6:04 AM 北京时间3:04 PM MST5:04 PM EST4:04 PM CT2:04 UAE (+1)17:04 20:04 - A person with knowledge of the deal says the San Francisco 49ers have signed Cundiff to compete with struggling veteran David Akers.
Analysis: Cundiff was released by the Washington Redskins on Oct. 9 after missing 5 of his 12 field goal attempts. He had already worked out once for the Niners on Nov. 27 before they invited him back.
Oct. 9 2:21 PM PT3:21 PM MT4:21 PM CT5:21 PM ET21:21 GMT5:21 AM 北京时间2:21 PM MST4:21 PM EST4:21 PM CT1:21 UAE (+1)17:21 20:21 - The Redskins released struggling kicker Billy Cundiff on Tuesday and replaced him with free agent Kai Forbath.
Analysis: Forbath emerged as the winner in a tryout at Redskins Park. He won the Lou Groza Award with UCLA in 2009 as the top kicker in college football, but he has yet to play in the NFL. Cundiff was signed late in preseason after he was waived by the Baltimore Ravens. He has been the worst kicker in the league this year, making only seven of 12 field goal attempts. Two of his misses have been from inside 40 yards, including a 31-yard misfire in Sunday's 24-17 loss to Atlanta.
Oct. 8 3:21 AM PT4:21 AM MT5:21 AM CT6:21 AM ET10:21 GMT6:21 PM 北京时间3:21 AM MST5:21 AM EST5:21 AM CT14:21 UAE6:21 9:21 - Cundiff _ already on thin ice after missing three field goals the previous week _ was wide right from 31 yards in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: Though Cundiff made a 23-yarder Sunday, his days in Washington might be numbered.
Oct. 1 10:18 AM PT11:18 AM MT12:18 PM CT1:18 PM ET17:18 GMT1:18 AM 北京时间10:18 AM MST12:18 PM EST12:18 PM CT21:18 UAE13:18 16:18 - Cundiff redeemed himself for a horrible day kicking with a 41-yard field goal that enabled the Redskins to snap a two-game skid with a 24-22 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Analysis: Cundiff missed three earlier attempts, including a 31-yarder that would have put the Redskins (2-2) up by two scores early in the fourth quarter. He also missed first-half tries of 41 and 57 yards.
Aug. 28 6:40 AM PT7:40 AM MT8:40 AM CT9:40 AM ET13:40 GMT9:40 PM 北京时间6:40 AM MST8:40 AM EST8:40 AM CT17:40 UAE9:40 12:40 - A person familiar with the move says the Washington Redskins have released kicker Graham Gano and replaced him with Cundiff.
Analysis: Cundiff was cut Sunday by the Baltimore Ravens, who decided to keep rookie Justin Tucker. Cundiff made the Pro Bowl in 2010, but last season he missed a potential game-tying, 32-yarder against New England in the waning seconds of the AFC title game.
Aug. 26 10:11 AM PT11:11 AM MT12:11 PM CT1:11 PM ET17:11 GMT1:11 AM 北京时间10:11 AM MST12:11 PM EST12:11 PM CT21:11 UAE13:11 16:11 - A person familiar with the decision says kicker Billy Cundiff has been released by the Baltimore Ravens. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the move has not been announced by the team.
Analysis: Cundiff lost the job to rookie Justin Tucker, who went 5 for 5 on field goals in three preseason games, including two kicks from at least 50 yards. Tucker was invited to camp to challenge Cundiff, who made the Pro Bowl in 2010 but went 1 for 6 from 50 yards and beyond last year. He missed a potential game-tying, 32-yarder against New England in the waning seconds of the AFC title game.
Aug. 24 1:07 PM PT2:07 PM MT3:07 PM CT4:07 PM ET20:07 GMT4:07 AM 北京时间1:07 PM MST3:07 PM EST3:07 PM CT0:07 UAE (+1)16:07 19:07 - Cundiff has more on his mind these days than the 32-yard field goal he missed last season in the waning seconds of the AFC title game. The 32-year-old kicker is worried about retaining his job with the Baltimore Ravens.
Analysis: The veteran is in a duel with rookie Justin Tucker, who took all the kicks in Thursday night's preseason game against Jacksonville. Cundiff says he was "shocked" about not being used.
