Police spokeswoman Neva Coakley confirmed the indictment Thursday. Hernandez is already being held without bail after pleading not guilty to murder in the unrelated death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd last year.
Analysis: In the 2012 case, victims Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado were shot as they sat in a car in Boston's South End. Police have said they were shot by someone who drove up alongside in an SUV and opened fire. Boston police have written in an affidavit there is probable cause to believe Hernandez was driving a vehicle used in the shooting and "may have been the shooter."

Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson tells Rhode Island's WJAR-TV that the former New England Patriots tight end had an altercation at the Bristol County House of Corrections on Tuesday.
Analysis: Hodgson said he couldn't provide much information, but told the TV station that Hernandez and another inmate are part of an internal investigation at the prison. He said Hernandez is away from the general prison population, in a segregated housing unit. The 24-year-old Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the killing of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez's attorneys had accused the state of allowing leaks and prejudicial out-of-court statements. They also sought a gag order from Judge Susan Garsh.
Analysis: They claimed the prosecution orchestrated a "publicity stunt" last year when Miami Dolphin Michael Pouncey was served with a subpoena after a game at Gillette Stadium. Prosecutors denied that and say they have leaked nothing. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the murder of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. Garsh's order, entered Thursday, demands both sides take "reasonable precautions" against prejudicial disclosures and says prosecutors must investigate any reports of leaks.
